HARGATE EQUESTRIAN LIMITED - Apprenticeship in Horse Care (Equine Groom) Level 2

This is a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horse Care (Equine Groom) with Hargate Equestrian Limited based at Hargate Fields Farm, Hilton, Derby (DE65 5FJ). The role is hands-on and field-based: duties include routine horse care, grooming, trimming, plaiting, mucking out, feeding, exercising/lungeing, basic health care, travelling and grooming at competitions.

Most learning is on-the-job under employer supervision.

You will be employed for 30 hours per week (shifts to be arranged with the employer). Training is provided by STUBBING COURT TRAINING LIMITED and includes the Equine Groom L2 apprenticeship standard plus functional skills in English and maths if required, masterclasses, seminars and SCT online learning.

The apprenticeship starts on 7 December 2025 and lasts approximately 1 year 1 month. The advertised wage is £11,778 for the first year (may increase depending on age) and apprentices are paid at the national apprentice minimum wage rate where applicable.

The role expects candidates to be hardworking, organised and able to work safely, including outdoors and often at weekends. Progression to Level 3 and further qualifications or industry careers in competition yards, riding schools and livery yards may be available for successful apprentices.
