Foundations in Public Health Research & Advocacy for Young People is a free online course co-designed with young people to help participants build practical skills in research, leadership, advocacy, and community action. It introduces the Health Hive, explains why it was created, and shows how young people can play an active role in public health research that affects their communities.
The course is designed for beginners and is open to young people aged 14 to 24 anywhere in the world. It is hosted on Open edX, is mobile-friendly, and can be completed at your own pace. Learners do not need any prior research experience; they only need curiosity, a device, an internet connection, and basic English skills.
Across six short modules, participants explore what research is, why ethics matters, how to stay mentally safe while taking part, and the different ways to get involved in public health through research, advocacy, and community projects. By the end, learners should feel more confident turning ideas into action and can download a certificate and digital badge after completing the course.
