Heathrow IT Virtual Work Experience

Heathrow IT is a virtual work experience programme delivered in partnership with Heathrow, designed to introduce young people to the wide range of IT careers available at Britain’s busiest airport. It explores how digital systems support aviation operations, from programming and web design to cybersecurity and infrastructure improvements.

Participants complete a series of quizzes, activities, and career pathway content that explains the different roles within IT and the skills needed to succeed. The programme also includes insights from industry experts, with opportunities to hear from a Heathrow executive, meet IT apprentices, and take part in practical tasks such as a cyber defence report and a CV-writing activity.

The experience is flexible and on demand, with live talks available as recordings so learners can complete the content at their own pace within the programme window. It is aimed at students aged 16+ and offers a certificate of completion once the work is finished.
