Survey Hereford City Brooks with a wildlife team, recording habitats and species through river, botanical, bird and invertebrate surveys. You’ll help support habitat restoration and uncover the waterways’ history, with training provided - including guidance on working safely in or near water.

This volunteering role with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust sits within the River City Project and supports work around the waterways and wetland areas of Hereford City Brooks. Volunteers help the team record habitats and species, contributing to work that restores wildlife habitats, uncovers the history of the waterways, and connects local people with these natural environments.

Main activities include supporting Project Officers and other volunteers with ecological surveys. These may involve River Naturalness surveys, MoRPh surveys, botanical surveys, invasive non-native species surveys, Riverfly Partnership surveys, bird and invertebrate surveys, as well as camera traps and fixed-point photography.

The role is best suited to people with a genuine interest in wildlife and habitat monitoring who are happy to spend extended periods outdoors. It can be physically demanding and calls for reliability, teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions.

Training will be provided where needed, including guidance on working safely in or near water.
