This is a Level 3 (heritage engineering technician) apprenticeship with B & C Coachworks Ltd based in Haslemere. Most of the programme is on-the-job learning in a classic vehicle coachbuilding workshop, working on a variety of British and Swedish marques.
Day-to-day duties include hand skills, technical drawing and pattern development, welding, fabrication (bending, folding, shrinking and stretching), wheeling, making bucks, and removal/replacement of components; paint preparation and paint techniques are also covered.
Training is delivered over 36 months by Heritage Skills Academy Limited at the Coachbuilding Academy (Brooklands Museum) on a block release basis (on average every five weeks for a 5-day block). Around 80% of the time you will work with the employer; if required, the employer will cover accommodation and travel costs for training blocks.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm (40 hours per week).
The apprenticeship starts on 31 January 2026. The role offers a first-year salary of £15,704 (with apprentice/NMW rates referenced and an hourly figure of £7. 55 shown) and includes nationally recognised apprenticeship training leading to the Heritage Engineering Technician qualification.
