Heritage Village Museum and Educational Center runs a year-round volunteer programme that supports its mission of making 19th-century history come alive for visitors. Volunteers serve as interpreters in period clothing, give guided 90-minute tours, help with special events (Heroines of Our History, Marching Through Time, Haunted Village), and assist across visitor services, gardening, quilting, gift shop, and office roles.
Time commitments are flexible to fit volunteers' schedules.
Recurring opportunities include Museum Tours (90-minute guided tours and special-event interpreting), Education Programs working with grade-school children (primarily grades K-3) typically Monday-Friday between 9:00 a. m.
and 2:00 p. m. , Gift Shop and admissions support, Office/Administrative support (traditionally Monday-Friday 9:00 a.
m. -4:00 p. m.
), Maintenance/Grounds work, Collections and Exhibits support, and Research Support (which may be completed remotely on an applicant's schedule). The Village also offers a First-Person Interpreter programme (1780-1900 period) with provided clothing and training; contact details are provided for that role.
There is a Junior Volunteer programme for children ages 10-17 to earn community service hours; those aged 10-11 must volunteer with a parent/guardian. Volunteers are managed via the VolunteerImpact (Better Impact) system where applicants create a profile, select the appropriate application type (Volunteer 18+, Jr.
Volunteer 10-17, or Group Volunteer), and sign up for opportunities. For general enquiries or to arrange training, contact Bethany Jewell, Director of Marketing and Volunteer Services (bjewell@heritagevillagecincinnati.
