Restore habitats, survey wildlife or lead guided walks across Hertfordshire and Middlesex. Choose roles through an online volunteering platform; many include inductions and training, with options from reserve work to community events and creative skills.
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust offers volunteering opportunities for people who want to help protect wildlife, restore habitats and connect others with nature across Hertfordshire and Middlesex. Volunteers support a wide mix of activities, including reserve work, wildlife surveying, helping at community events, office-based tasks, leading guided walks and sharing creative skills.
The Trust uses Team Kinetic as its volunteering platform, where you can search for roles, create an account and sign up for opportunities that suit your interests. Many roles do not require previous experience because inductions and training are provided, although some opportunities do ask for specialist skills or knowledge.
Volunteering is open to people aged 16 and over, with parental consent needed for 16- and 17-year-olds. The Trust says volunteers should be able to travel to meeting points themselves, and in many cases reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.
It is a flexible way to meet people, learn new skills and contribute to local conservation work.
Year-round volunteering
Volunteers do not receive payment or payment in kind for their work, but reasonable, pre-agreed out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed in many cases.
