Explore how England’s historic environment is investigated, protected and managed through quizzes, videos and interactive activities. Hear from heritage experts, apprentices and trainees, then earn a certificate when you complete the on-demand programme.
This virtual work experience programme with Historic England introduces students to the heritage sector and the ways people help to understand, protect and manage England’s historic environment. Through quizzes, videos and interactive activities, you explore the organisation’s career areas and pathways, and get a feel for the sort of work carried out by Historic England colleagues.
The programme takes you through several themed modules, including how Historic England works, how the historic environment is investigated, how change is managed, and how heritage can be supported through policy, advice, public engagement and creative work. You also hear from heritage experts, apprentices and trainees, and learn more about the values, behaviours and skills that can help you move into this field.
It is designed to be flexible and on demand, with a certificate awarded when you complete the programme. Students can work through the content at their own pace, making it a useful way to build awareness of heritage careers while developing transferable skills and exploring future pathways.
