Join the Historical Association for an online talk with Jake Subryan Richards, Assistant Professor of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The event centres on his first book, which explores liberated Africans and the end of the slave trade, and draws on his wider research into legal history, the African diaspora, and the history of empires.

Richards will also discuss the broader themes of his scholarship, including political communities formed against enslavement in sub-Saharan Africa and his related curatorial and editorial work. The session is a chance to hear from a historian working across major debates in imperial and African history, and is open to anyone interested in the subject.
