Trace Richard III’s rise and fall, from the Wars of the Roses and the princes in the tower to the Battle of Bosworth. Then examine a replica of his skull and see medieval weapons demonstrated to explain its wound marks.

This talk explores the life and death of King Richard III, beginning with his role in the Wars of the Roses and his rise to the throne. It also covers the princes in the tower, the events that shaped his reign, and the Battle of Bosworth, which brought it to an end.

The session then turns to the discovery of Richard III’s remains in Leicester. Medieval weapons are described and demonstrated, and a replica of Richard’s skull is examined to show how those weapons left the wound marks seen there.

The talk is delivered by John Richards and is organised by the Swansea Branch of the Historical Association.
