The HORIBA Undergraduate Scholarship, funded by HORIBA Foundation UK and hosted by Northumbria University, supports UK/Home undergraduate applicants starting full-time study at the Newcastle upon Tyne campus in September 2026. Two students will be awarded £2,000 per year (total £6,000) to enhance their university learning experience.
Successful applicants will also be offered coaching/mentorship and opportunities to visit HORIBA's UK facilities. Applicants must be starting Level 4 (first year) on one of the eligible programmes (including Electrical & Electronic Engineering BEng, Automotive Engineering BEng, Mechanical Engineering BEng, Physics BSc, Physics with Astrophysics BSc, Biochemistry BSc, Biological Sciences BSc, Biomedical Science BSc, and Chemistry BSc).
To be eligible applicants must be UK/Home domiciled, self-funded, apply for government student finance, and meet at least one widening-participation characteristic (low POLAR4/TUNDRA MSOA quintile, BAME background, or declared health/learning difference on UCAS). Applications are by online written application (max 3000 characters) answering 'How will this Award support your aspirations to succeed in Higher Education?
'. Applications close at 16:00 on Friday 3 July 2026 and outcomes will be communicated following results day in August 2026. Payments are made across academic years (Nov/Feb/May) and the scholarship is conditional on progression to the next year of study.

Two students will receive £2,000 per year during their undergraduate studies (up to a total of £6,000). The award is paid in instalments (25% in November, 25% in February and 50% in May each year). Includes coaching/mentorship and opportunities to visit HORIBA's UK facilities. The scholarship will not be paid during a placement year.
