Shadow members of staff across clinical care, business and events, hospitality and retail to see how a community-based hospice works day to day. Explore the teams supporting patients, families and the wider community in a busy hospice setting.

Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s Work Experience Programme gives learners a chance to spend time in a busy, community-based hospice and see how different teams work together. The programme is designed to offer meaningful experience that can strengthen CVs, personal statements and university applications while also providing real value to the hospice.

Participants shadow members of staff across a range of environments, including clinical care, business and events, hospitality, and retail. This gives young people insight into how a hospice operates day to day and the variety of roles involved in supporting patients, families and the wider community.

The programme is aimed at school and college students from Year 10 upwards, with some clinical placements available only to those aged 16 and over. Applicants are expected to be compassionate, reliable, professional and keen to learn.

Interested learners can apply online through the hospice’s application form.
