The IEEE RAS Embodied Intelligence Summer School is a five-day intensive programme at UCL East (London) from 6to 10 July 2026 focused on embodied AI: intelligent systems that perceive, reason and act in the physical world. Participants experience morning lectures and afternoon hands-on labs working with simulation tools and real robot hardware, with team projects, mentoring from UCL researchers and daily lunch provided.
The curriculum covers state estimation, SLAM, navigation and planning, whole-body control, manipulation and Vision-Language-Action models. The programme runs a near-peer model: Track A is for undergraduate, Master's and early-stage PhD students (open worldwide) and Track B is for Year 11to 13 students from Greater London state schools (aged 16to 18).
Track A applicants should have programming proficiency (Python or similar) and a strong mathematics background; Track B requires a genuine interest in STEM and prior robotics experience is not required. Successful participants receive an IEEE RAS certificate of completion and opportunities for mentoring, networking and project demonstration.
Applications are competitive and places are limited (Track A: 20 places; Track B: 15 places). Apply via the short application form before the deadline (24 May 2026). Fees: Track A £300; Track B £50 (subsidised).
