Work one-to-one with a dedicated subject tutor to explore Caesar and Vigenère ciphers, data security and cybersecurity. Then develop an independent research project while building academic writing, referencing and argumentation skills, and finish with a written report.
Immerse Education’s Encryption and Cybersecurity Online Research Programme is a pre-university online course for students aged 13-18. It is designed for secondary school and secondary school participants who want to explore how digital security protects information and how encryption is used in both historical and modern contexts.
Students work with a dedicated subject tutor through a personalised academic programme focused on encryption, data security and the wider field of cybersecurity. The curriculum includes in-depth academic sessions, study of the Caesar and Vigenère ciphers, and the chance to complete an independent research project in a related area.
Participants also develop research, academic writing, referencing and argumentation skills while building confidence in their subject knowledge.
The programme is delivered online and is available year-round from anywhere in the world. It includes one-to-one tutorials or group lessons, a final written report, and recognition on completion. Students may also have the opportunity to present their work at the Immerse Online Symposium, and strong performers can receive a personal Letter of Recommendation.
The course is intended to strengthen academic portfolios and support university preparation.
