Want to dig into Incan history in Cusco? Join Projects Abroad's supervised archaeology programme to map sites, classify artefacts, learn field methods and Spanish, build practical skills for uni or career, and connect with archaeologists and local culture.

Join a supervised, youth-focused archaeology programme in and around Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Participants work on Incan and pre-Incan ruins with experienced archaeologists, taking part in mapping, cleaning and maintenance of sites, classifying artefacts, and exploratory work while learning archaeological methods and local history.

The programme includes presentations, workshops (drawing, registry works, ceramics and weaving), cultural activities, Spanish lessons and an organised weekend trip to Machu Picchu. Accommodation is with a local host family in Cusco, and the project provides full in-country transport, airport transfers, three meals a day, project equipment and 24-hour local support.

This opportunity is aimed at younger volunteers (minimum age 15). Activities run Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends reserved for organised social and cultural activities. On completion participants receive a certificate of project completion and experience relevant to heritage preservation and community outreach.
