Revisit physicists’ proposals for keeping global warming below 1.5°C, then assess what has worked and whether new ideas are needed. Dave Cross leads the talk, with time for questions and discussion afterwards.
This talk looks back at the ideas physicists suggested a few years ago to help keep global warming below the 1. 5 degree target and asks what has changed since then. It considers whether any of those approaches have worked, whether the world is still on track, and whether new ideas are now needed to tackle climate change and move towards net zero.
The event is a public lecture led by Dave Cross, who will guide the audience through a discussion of progress, challenges and future possibilities. It includes time for questions and discussion after the main talk, making it suitable for anyone interested in physics, climate science and the practical role of science in addressing environmental problems.
The talk is organised by the Institute of Physics West Midlands Branch and the Hereford & Worcester Centre, in collaboration with the University of Worcester.
