Dr Vince Smith MBE unpacks how Einstein’s 1905 work reshaped physics, from Brownian motion and the photoelectric effect to special relativity. Hear how these ideas helped lay the foundations of modern physics at a free-ticket lecture in Worcester.
Dr Vince Smith MBE FInstP will give a lecture on the state of physics at the time of Einstein’s birth and explain how Einstein’s work helped transform the subject in the early twentieth century. The talk focuses on three major ideas from 1905: Brownian motion, the photoelectric effect, and the outline of special relativity, showing how these contributions helped lay the foundations of modern physics.
The event is organised by the Institute of Physics and takes place at Huntingdon Hall in Worcester. It is open to members of the public as well as members of the Institute, with admission by free ticket only.
Tickets are available from the box office by phone or in person, and the venue notes that there is a public car park nearby and that the lecture theatre is on the ground floor.
