This Level 1 Certificate provides an introductory qualification for those interested in working with children, young people and adults in health or care settings. The course covers core industry topics such as communication, safeguarding, the range of services and aspects of a healthy lifestyle, giving learners a broad insight into health and social care roles.
The programme is delivered full-time over one year (35 weeks) with typical study of around 10 hours per week. Students will study the vocational units alongside English and Maths GCSE where needed. The advertised start date for this intake is 7 September 2026.
The course is suitable for learners who have not completed GCSEs or who come from alternative educational backgrounds. Fee information: the 2026/27 fee for learners aged 19+ is £1417. 00; learners aged 16-18 at the start of the course do not need to pay.
