This is an immersive two-week summer program at Georgetown University designed to introduce middle school students to the medical field. Through lectures, presentations, and guided discussions, participants explore clinical environments, public health policy, biomedical research, medical ethics, and contemporary topics such as healthcare reform and genetic engineering.
The program combines in-class learning with hands-on insights and supervised practical activities. Students evaluate different medical career paths (e. g.
, surgery, nursing, research) and build a portfolio of work. Instruction is delivered by experienced instructors from Georgetown’s academic community and includes field trips and campus-based experiences.
Students receive detailed performance reports, a Course Completion Certificate, and a Letter of Recognition from the Summer Institute. Residential and day options are available; residential programs include housing, meals, activities and supervised campus life.
International students receive visa support and optional shuttle/transport arrangements as described on the program page.
