Introduction to Python for High Schoolers is a two-week, in-person summer institute held at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) designed for high-school students aged 14-18. The course covers Python fundamentals including variables, data types, control flow, functions, data structures, file handling, object-oriented design, and problem-solving.
Students complete hands-on projects and a capstone text-based adventure game with peer review and feature testing. Participants receive practical, project-based tuition led by experienced instructors, with emphasis on portfolio development and real-world applications.
On successful completion students receive a Course Completion Certificate and a Letter of Recognition. Residential (boarding) and day (commuter) options are offered; tuition typically includes academic tuition, housing for residential programs, meals (varies by program), scheduled activities and excursions, and on-campus transportation for included activities.
Admission requires a completed Summer Institute Application. International students should note mandatory international registration fees that cover visa support, pre-arrival communications, medical insurance and arrival/departure assistance; flights are not arranged by the program and some transport options (e.
