Mission Discovery Space and STEM Summer School 2027 is a five-day residential or day-only programme at King’s College London, run by ISSET with NASA astronauts, university staff and expert mentors. It is designed for students aged 14 to 18 who want to experience an ambitious STEM challenge in a university setting while developing teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and presentation skills.
During the week, participants work in teams to design a space experiment, refine it through talks and guided mentoring, and present their ideas to judges at the end of the programme. The winning experiment is chosen to be built and launched to space, giving students a memorable real-world goal to work towards.
Participants also receive a certificate signed by a NASA astronaut and professors.
The residential option adds a taste of university life, with accommodation in King’s College London halls, meals and 24-hour supervision. The programme is fee-paying and aims to inspire students interested in space, science and future study, while helping them build confidence and strengthen university applications.
