Get hands-on with an MP’s day-to-day work through casework, research, press cuttings and constituents’ queries. You could also help write press releases or accompany the MP to meetings in the House of Commons or your constituency.
Jerome Mayhew offers work experience placements for students from the constituency who want to learn more about local politics and build their skills. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into the day-to-day work of an MP and the wider political process.
Students can get involved in a range of tasks, including casework, researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering constituents’ queries by phone or email. There may also be opportunities to accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House of Commons or in the constituency.
Interested students should contact the office to enquire about placements in either Attlebridge or Westminster.
