Learn to photograph the night sky in an introductory session led by astronomer and astrophotographer Dr Anthony Holloway. Combine a short lecture with practical camera time to explore the fundamentals; bring a DSLR or compact system camera with full manual controls, plus a tripod.

Learn how to capture the ever-changing beauty of the night sky in an introductory astrophotography class at Jodrell Bank. The session combines an introductory lecture with a practical element, helping attendees explore the fundamentals of photographing the cosmos and build confidence using their camera in a specialised setting.

The event is led by astronomer, astrophotographer, and Jodrell Bank’s Head of Computing, Dr Anthony Holloway. It is designed to be accessible to beginners, with no previous knowledge required, and is described as suitable for adults and young people aged 14 and above.

Participants need to bring a DSLR or Compact System Camera with full manual controls, plus a tripod. The evening is weather dependent, so if conditions are poor, alternative activities will be offered and the event will still go ahead.

Hot drinks are provided, and attendees are encouraged to contact the venue in advance with any access requirements.
