Start a hands-on joinery career with Hugh Baird College’s Level 2 Bench Apprenticeship - earn while you learn on campus and with an employer, develop practical joinery skills, and gain a recognised Level 2 qualification.

This Level 2 Joinery (Bench) Apprenticeship at Hugh Baird College combines on-the-job employment with college-based training to develop practical joinery skills relevant to the construction industry. Apprentices learn traditional and modern bench joinery techniques, materials handling, measuring and marking out, and health & safety practices needed for working on-site and in workshops.

The programme requires you to be employed in a relevant environment where you will gain workplace experience while completing college assessments and functional skills checks in Maths and English. Entry requirements include being aged 16 or over and holding either 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (old D), a relevant Level 1 qualification, or demonstrable Level 1 knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Apprentices are paid by their employer for the duration of the course (at least the government minimum apprentice wage), and many employers retain apprentices after completion. For more information or to enquire about live vacancies, contact the college Business Development Team or use the course enquiry form.
