Apply to become an LAE Maths Scholar: if you have Maths GCSE grade 9 and plan to study A level Maths and Further Maths, you could win a scholarship (worth up to £500), calculators, books, tutorials and funded university trips.

The LAE Mathematics Scholarship rewards students who demonstrate exceptional prior attainment and strong problem-solving potential in mathematics. Up to 10 scholars may be chosen in each year group. Candidates must hold a Maths GCSE grade 9 and opt to study A level Maths and Further Maths.

Following enrolment they sit a problem-solving exam in early September; top scorers are interviewed and scholarships are awarded at the end of the first half term of Year 12. Continuation into Year 13 requires keeping Further Maths for both years and applying to study mathematics, computer science, engineering or physics at university.

The programme provides tangible and academic support: calculators, books, a cash grant (£100 in Year 12 and £100 in Year 13), university extension tutorials from October, fully funded trips for Year 12 scholars, mentoring opportunities, and free entry to competitions and extension papers (UKMT, STEP, MAT, AEA). Selection into Year 13 may also occur where places are available.
