Shadow staff in clinical or non-clinical NHS roles and see day-to-day work up close. Meet teams across patient-facing services, business, clerical and support functions while exploring career options and building insight into working life.
Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of work experience placements in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Placements are designed to give students an insight into the NHS and the many different careers available across the organisation, from patient-facing roles to business, clerical and support functions.
During a short placement, students shadow staff and observe day-to-day tasks in the workplace. The experience is intended to help young people build an understanding of working life, meet staff, explore career options and develop skills that support school or college coursework.
Applications are made through the ICP careers website, where applicants create an account, choose the relevant placement type and complete the application form. Requests are considered through a competitive selection process, and not all applicants can be accommodated.
All placements are unpaid. The Trust does not contribute towards lunch or travel expenses.
