Join Lancashire Wildlife Trust at Howick Hall Wood in Penwortham to help with practical conservation work in a new volunteer group. The role involves monitoring, maintenance and habitat creation, supporting the care of a woodland site that helps local wildlife thrive while also giving people the chance to connect with nature.

Volunteers take part on Fridays from 10am until 2pm. The work is hands-on and varied, with practical tasks carried out on site throughout the year and in most weather conditions. The role is suited to people who enjoy being outdoors and who are happy to get stuck into physical conservation tasks.

No previous experience is needed. The trust provides the tools, training and personal protective equipment, and asks volunteers to bring a packed lunch and wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.

Expenses are reimbursed, support is ongoing, and volunteers are insured while taking part.
