Thinking about dentistry? Join Leeds Futures - a year-long mentoring programme from the University of Leeds with taster sessions, skills workshops and talks to build subject knowledge, boost your UCAS application and connect with dental academics and students. Apply by 23 Nov 2025.
Leeds Futures - Dentistry is part of the University of Leeds' national Leeds Futures outreach programme, designed to inspire and support Year 12 students interested in pursuing careers in Dentistry. The programme runs from January and offers a year-long series of talks, taster sessions, skills workshops and enrichment activities to develop subject knowledge and application-ready skills alongside current studies.
Activities are organised across Year 12 and Year 13: Year 12 typically includes a launch event, subject taster sessions, two campus days (one focused on Dentistry insight and one on UCAT preparation), study skills and personal statement workshops; Year 13 includes interview skills workshops, a mock MMI and a Futures Graduation. Delivery is primarily online via fortnightly Zoom sessions on weekday evenings during term-time, with two on-campus days at the University of Leeds (Easter and Spring Bank holidays) and access to an online learning space.
The programme is open to current Year 12 / first-year college students who have suitable GCSEs/A-levels and can commit to the schedule. Applicants must meet a minimum of two widening-participation criteria (for example: parents/carers did not go to university; low-HE participation postcode; household income £25,000 or below; school performed below national average at GCSE; disruptive personal circumstances; care experienced).
Applications are open now and close on Sunday 23 November 2025. Apply via the online application form linked on the programme page.
