Support in-patients at a community hospital by helping with social activities that encourage independence and recovery. You could support art and craft, talking groups or educational sessions, and help plan and evaluate activities before and after they happen.
This volunteering role supports the Activities Coordinator at Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital. Volunteers help provide social engagement for in-patients, encourage independent activities, and support the clinical team in creating a stimulating environment that promotes recovery, mobility and emotional well-being.
Typical tasks include helping to plan and evaluate group sessions before and after activities, supporting patients during social activities, and assisting with delegated activities that help improve independence. Group interventions may include art and craft, talking and discussion groups, and educational sessions.
Volunteers are not expected to move or handle patients, or to carry out duties without supervision. The role includes Trust mandatory training, local orientation and any other required training, and an enhanced DBS check is required.
Volunteers are asked to give a minimum of two hours per week for at least six months.
Free of charge to volunteer; the enhanced DBS check is processed free of charge for volunteers.
