Help keep a hospital ward welcoming by taking round the tea trolley, collecting menu choices and chatting with patients over games, jigsaws or reading. You’ll get Trust training, an induction and local orientation, with an enhanced DBS check provided free.
Ward Assistant Volunteers support ward staff at Melton Hospital by helping with everyday tasks that contribute to patient care and comfort. Typical activities include filling water jugs, taking the tea trolley round, collecting menu choices, helping with infection prevention by cleaning common touch points, assisting with lunches, and clearing away afterwards.
Volunteers may also spend time chatting with patients and joining in with activities such as jigsaws, games and reading, helping to brighten patients’ day and support their wellbeing and recovery. The role is designed for people who enjoy working with others and want to give a little time each week in a caring environment.
Applicants need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and they must live locally enough to travel to the hospital easily. Core Trust training, induction and local orientation are provided, and an enhanced DBS check is required free of charge.
Free volunteering opportunity.
