This is a full-time Level 2 Childcare Apprenticeship at Western Elms Day Nursery in Reading. You will work as a nursery assistant and gain practical, on-the-job experience across a range of activities from arts and crafts to singing and outdoor play.

The role involves maintaining children’s records, working with parents, supporting equality and diversity policies, and working as part of the nursery team to ensure the smooth running of the day.

You will be employed and will attend college once a month for off-the-job training provided by CHILTERN TRAINING LIMITED. The apprenticeship leads to the Early Years Practitioner (Level 2) qualification and covers safeguarding, health and hygiene, child development, planning and assessing activities, communication (including EAL and additional needs), and working with parents and other professionals.

The apprenticeship is 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday between 08:00-19:00 including 1 hour unpaid lunch; shifts to be confirmed). Start date is Sunday 15 February 2026, duration 1 year. Wage for the first year is £15,704 (then may increase depending on age).
