Hear a wildlife warden unpack why Britain’s only venomous snake is declining, from pressures on adders to conservation work around Woodhall Spa’s heathland reserves. Explore how land management can support one of the country’s few remaining good-sized populations, with an interval raffle and refreshments.

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust warden Kevin James gives a talk about British adders, the UK’s only venomous snake, and why their populations are in serious decline. He explains the pressures facing these shy animals and explores the conservation work needed to help secure their future.

The talk looks at the heathland nature reserves and linked habitats around Woodhall Spa, where one of the country’s few remaining good-sized adder populations survives. Kevin will outline what the snakes need, how land management decisions can support them now and in the future, and the surprising range of reasons they are under threat.

The evening is designed to be informative and entertaining, and includes an interval with a raffle and refreshments.
