Help grow saltmarsh and sand dune plants in a specialist nursery, supporting restoration across the Humber estuary. You could tend plants, track growing schedules, update the seed bank or collect seed, with training provided.

Join Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust’s Wilder Humber project as a volunteer at the new specialist saltmarsh nursery. The role supports a pioneering conservation effort that brings together sand dune, saltmarsh, seagrass and native oyster restoration to help enhance vital ecosystems in the Humber estuary.

Volunteers will help develop saltmarsh and sand dune plant propagation techniques and practices. Tasks may include tending plants, helping to maintain and develop growing schedules, carrying out routine checks and measurements, keeping detailed records, organising and updating the seed bank, maintaining the nursery site and grounds, and collecting seed with training provided.

This opportunity is open to people who want to make a difference and enjoy working outdoors. It may particularly suit those with an interest in gardening, nature and conservation, but no previous experience is needed.

Some tasks involve manual handling or walking on difficult terrain, while others can be done sitting down in the accessible polytunnels, so there are a range of ways to get involved.
