Support children aged 9-13 in online breakout rooms, helping them practise reading and writing in small-group sessions led by staff. Celebrate their progress and build your communication and leadership skills, with full training and around three hours of volunteering each month.
Literacy Pirates offers a virtual volunteering role supporting children aged 9 to 13 who are falling behind in school. Volunteers help create a positive, encouraging space where children can practise reading and writing, build confidence, and develop perseverance through regular online sessions.
As a Volunteer Crewmate, you join small-group sessions led by staff and focus on supporting children in breakout rooms. The role is centred on encouragement, celebration of progress, and helping young people enjoy literacy activities in a supportive online environment.
This is a flexible volunteering opportunity, with sessions running during term time on weekdays. Volunteers are asked to give around three hours a month, and no previous experience is needed. Full training is provided, making it a good option for someone who wants to gain experience working with children, develop communication and leadership skills, and contribute to a worthwhile cause.
