Hear leading Welsh writers unpack how they turn a first spark into finished work, from research and drafting to getting unstuck and knowing when to stop. A moderated discussion and audience questions reveal how their processes shift across novels, poetry, screenwriting and non-fiction.

Leading writers from Wales come together for an honest conversation about how they work, exploring the creative process from the first spark of an idea through to a finished piece of writing. The discussion looks at where ideas come from, how writers research and draft, what happens when momentum is lost, and how they recognise when a piece is complete.

The session brings together writers working across different genres, showing how a writing practice can change over time as people balance writing with other work, respond to commissions, or move between novels, poetry, screenwriting and non-fiction. Through a moderated discussion and audience questions, participants can gain practical inspiration, learn about the shared challenges faced by established writers, and take away new approaches to apply in their own creative practice.
