Get hands-on caring for veg beds and green spaces at Whitehall Park in Darwen, from planting and composting to weeding and cutting back growth. No experience needed: a volunteer will guide you, with tools, PPE and training supplied.

The Little Potting Club is looking for a gardening and ground maintenance volunteer to help care for a small outdoor space at Whitehall Park in Darwen. The role involves practical, hands-on work supporting the veg beds and green areas, with tasks including weeding, planting, composting, cutting back growth, moving compost and soil, and keeping the area tidy.

This is a good opportunity for anyone who enjoys outdoor work and wants to build practical skills in a supportive setting. No gardening experience is needed, as a volunteer will be there to assist and guide you.

The work can involve some heavy lifting and the use of gardening tools, a drill and other hand tools, so it suits people who are comfortable with physical tasks.

Volunteering usually takes place on Tuesday mornings between 9am and 12pm, although other weekday sessions can sometimes be arranged for a couple of hours. Refreshments are provided, and all tools, PPE and training are supplied.

The role is ongoing and comes with support, insurance cover and access to the park cabin facilities.
