Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts is running a free regional workshop afternoon for Year 12 and Year 13 students who are based in or around London and are considering acting or musical theatre training at drama school or university. The event is designed to give prospective applicants practical insight into professional training and the audition process, while helping them build confidence in their next steps as performers.
The afternoon includes two workshops. In the self-tape session, participants explore how to prepare a strong audition tape, including technical set-up, framing and how to deliver a convincing performance on camera.
The acting taster workshop then introduces some core performance skills through a physical and vocal warm-up, storytelling, improvisation, ensemble play and devised scene work.
Sessions are led by LIPA staff, students and graduates. Booking is essential and places are offered on a first come, first served basis. The organisers particularly welcome students from ethnically diverse backgrounds, care leavers and students who receive free school meals, and bursaries are available to help with travel costs for those eligible.
