This shadowing placement offers a practical introduction to heritage and visitor-facing work at council venues. You can observe adult guided tours, see how shop operations and catering procedures are run where appropriate, and help with setting up and dismantling sets.

The role also includes supporting the preparation of education activities, crafts and materials, giving you a broad view of how heritage experiences are delivered.

You will also gain insight into the more organised side of the work, including administrative support and booking processes. It is a good fit for someone interested in history, interpretation, education, or working with the public in a cultural setting.
