Survey marine mammals from land or boat, check sightings data and help run rock-pooling events at a marine wildlife centre. Get full training from expert staff, meet people who share your interests and commit at least two hours a week on flexible days.

Living Seas Local Volunteering gives local people the chance to help with marine conservation at Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre while building practical skills and meeting others with similar interests. Volunteers can get involved all year round and are supported with full training from the centre’s staff team of experts.

Typical tasks include land-based and boat-based marine mammal surveys, staffing the visitor centre, entering and checking data, updating sightings information, assisting with community engagement events such as rock pooling, and helping with beach cleans. Volunteers are asked to commit at least two hours a week, with flexible days to suit different schedules.

During the winter months, the centre is open on weekdays only, and the minimum commitment is eight weeks.
