Research local issues, write press releases and help answer constituents’ queries during a practical placement in an MP’s office. You could also accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or constituency.
Dr Luke Evans MP offers work experience opportunities for students from the constituency, giving young people an insight into local politics and the chance to build useful skills. The placement is designed to be practical and varied, with tasks that can be adapted depending on the age and ability of the student.
Participants may help with a range of office and parliamentary activities, such as researching an issue, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering constituents’ queries by phone or email. Students may also accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency, and may be involved in some casework where appropriate.
