Curious how Rome shaped power and monuments? Join former British Museum curator Dr Paul Roberts on 16 April at AKS Lytham to explore imperial lives, monuments and monarchs, connect with a leading academic, and sharpen your history insights-great for A-levels and uni applications.

Dr Paul Roberts will give a lecture titled “Rome, Monarchs and Monuments” on 16 April 2026 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:15pm for refreshments) at AKS Lytham, Clifton Drive, FY8 1DT. The event is presented by the Lytham St Annes branch of the Classical Association.

Paul Roberts was Senior Roman Curator in the Greek and Roman Department at the British Museum for over 20 years and later became Keeper of the Department of Antiquities at the Ashmolean Museum. His research covers daily life in the Greek and Roman worlds, Pompeii and Herculaneum, Roman emperors, mummy portraits, and classical ceramics and glass.

Membership costs £12 a year (adults) or £5 for children and students; membership entitles free entry to all seven lectures. Non-members pay £5 a ticket.
