Want hands-on NHS experience? Join Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust placements to explore clinical and non-clinical roles, build practical skills, and connect with healthcare professionals - perfect for strengthening uni or career applications.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust offers a broad programme of in-person work experience placements across clinical and non-clinical departments for local school pupils and young people. Clinical placements (for example Medicine, Cardiology, Nursing, Pathology, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Pharmacy, Maternity, Medical Physics, Research and Innovation, Audiology) are accepted from individuals aged 16 and over and pupils in Year 12; some clinical roles have additional academic or age requirements (for example Diagnostic Radiography and certain research roles require applicants to be 18+).

Non-clinical placements (for example Communications, Digital Transformation and Clinical Software Systems, Information Technology, Finance, Learning and Development, Clinical Coding and Business Intelligence) are available from age 15 and in Year 10, although individual departments may set higher minimum ages or specific criteria. Individual department listings specify availability windows (examples include placements during the Easter holidays and several placements across June, July and August) and role-specific entry criteria such as minimum GCSE grades or being on track for A-levels.

To apply, follow the instructions on the Trust's work experience page and complete the online application. For medical placements contact mtw-tr. medicalworkexperience@nhs.
