Get trained in the creative tech areas that interest you, then welcome visitors, support beginners and help improve a free makerspace. You can explore tools, software and machinery with ongoing support and insurance, giving whatever time you can during Saturday opening hours.
The Making Rooms’ Fab Lab Blackburn is a creative technology space where people can come in, learn how to make things and explore new ideas for free. Volunteers help welcome members of the public, support beginners in the lab and contribute to a friendly space where creativity, making and experimentation are encouraged.
Volunteers are trained in the areas they are most interested in, so you do not need previous experience to get involved. The role is suited to people who are keen to learn, enjoy hands-on activities and want to help others discover what is possible using creative tools, software and machinery.
You may help teach or support visitors, or work on interesting projects that improve the space and showcase what the lab can do. The opportunity includes ongoing support, training and insurance cover, and it is suitable for under 18s.
Volunteers are asked to give whatever time they can during the Saturday opening hours.
Every Saturday, 10:00-18:00
