Want to gain hands-on teaching and leadership experience this summer? Join the Sheffield Confucius Institute’s Mandarin & STEM Summer School team to lead activities, develop communication and project skills, connect with university staff, and boost your CV-all while inspiring young learners.

The Sheffield Confucius Institute’s Mandarin & STEM Summer School is a five-day programme for children aged 5-16 that combines Mandarin language learning with hands-on STEM activities. The 2026 session runs Monday 20 July to Friday 24 July, daily 8:45am-3:30pm, held in Rooms DB13 and other spaces at Bartolome House, School of Law, Winter Street, Sheffield (S3 7ND).

No prior Mandarin experience is required.

Children take part in five themed sessions each day covering Mandarin language, STEM Explorers, Curious Mind, Smart Living, and Sheffield Made. Activities are age-appropriate and include speaking, singing, practical science and engineering challenges, creative cultural sessions, and short tours or experiences of university life.
