MBDA's Manufacturing Engineering Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship is a 4. 5 year paid programme based at MBDA Bolton with academic studies at the University of Greater Manchester. Apprentices study one day a week at university towards a fully funded BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering while spending the remainder of the week on rotational placements across manufacturing teams, gaining on-the-job experience in assembly, integration, testing and production line architecture.

Apprentices will undertake different placements (examples include Circuit Card Assembly, Seekers and Datalinks, Inert Missile and Actuators and Control Equipment), complete university assignments and exams, and have opportunities to travel to other MBDA sites and suppliers. The role combines time on the shop floor with office-based work and includes study leave during exam periods.

The role is salaried at £18,750 per year with a £3,000 joining bonus. MBDA also offers paid travel expenses to and from your place of study, annual pay reviews, 25 days annual leave (plus options to purchase holiday), and other employee benefits.

Applicants must meet the specified GCSE and post-GCSE qualification criteria and hold the necessary security eligibility.

  • British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship (security clearance requirement).
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 including English Language, Mathematics, and any Science or Technology subject.
  • After GCSEs applicants must have completed one of the following and achieved 120 UCAS Tariff points: 3 x A levels (including Maths and either Physics or a Technology/Engineering subject) with grades A* to C; OR BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at minimum grade DDM (including a Distinction in Further Maths module); OR T‑Level at Merit or Distinction in an Engineering subject.
  • If currently studying, predicted grades that meet the entry requirements by the programme start date are acceptable.
  • Successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) after offer stage.
