Research local issues, write press releases and help handle constituents’ queries in a busy political office. You could also accompany the MP to meetings or events at the House or in the constituency, depending on your age and ability.
Matt Vickers MP offers work experience placements to students from his constituency. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into local politics and a chance to build practical skills in a busy political office.
Participants may support a range of day-to-day tasks, including casework, researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties and helping answer constituents’ queries by phone or email. They may also accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency, depending on the age and ability of the student.
