Want hands-on skills and real impact abroad? Join Maximo Nivel to build homes, schools and clinics across Latin America, learn on-site from local professional foremen, boost your CV and connect with communities while gaining practical construction experience.

Maximo Nivel's Construction & Renovation volunteer program places international volunteers on community development projects across Central and South America. Projects include building and repairing homes, classrooms, clinics, and community centres, and work is led by professional local foremen who train and supervise volunteers.

Typical construction tasks include excavation, mixing cement, laying brick, plastering, painting, preparing adobe, and other physical site work.

Programs are physically demanding and require volunteers to be healthy and prepared for manual labour. Work typically involves 3-4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with project schedules in the morning or afternoon.

New volunteer programs start every Monday year-round and placements are available from 1 to 52 weeks. Participants receive airport pick-up, host family accommodations (shared room), breakfast and dinner daily, 24/7 in-country support, an official certificate of volunteer service, and a letter of recommendation.

Fees are all-inclusive and vary by location and duration (all-inclusive program fees start at $735). A special project surcharge of $95/week applies to medical, conservation, and construction projects.

Applicants apply online via the Maximo Nivel application form and can request information about travel grants and academic credit.
