Maynooth 850 is a small exhibition currently on display in the Russell Library at Maynooth University marking 850 years since the FitzGeralds established the town of Maynooth in 1176. The exhibition is organised into three themed cases - 'Town', 'Gown', and 'Renown' - and presents a curated selection of archival materials and library treasures that highlight key historical moments connected to Maynooth College, its students, staff and servants.
The display situates university history within the broader development of the town and its communities. The exhibition runs from 7 April 2026 to 30 June 2026 and is located in the Russell Library. It will be of interest to members of the public, local community, researchers and students who wish to explore the university's archival collections and learn about Maynooth's historical milestones.
