Skillnet's Mechanic Apprenticeship programmes provide employer-led, vocational training for roles across the automotive sector, including light vehicle, heavy vehicle, electric vehicle and related non-technical pathways such as management, team leading, customer service and business administration.
Learners work towards Apprenticeship Standards at Level 2, 3 or 5, combining on-the-job workplace learning with off-the-job study (including maths and English where required). Apprentices typically attend Skillnet training centres for scheduled training days or blocks while their employer pays their wages and supports practical development.
Typical technical apprenticeship lengths are around 2. 5 to 3 years depending on the standard and employer. Skillnet also runs traineeships for 16-24 year olds to build workplace readiness and progression into apprenticeships.
Support and guidance are provided by Skillnet coaches, and the programme is available across training sites in the UK.
