Join Cavendish Nuclear within Babcock on a four-year degree apprenticeship where you'll study towards a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing while gaining hands-on experience supporting nuclear new build and decommissioning projects. You'll be based at a key Babcock site in Bristol (BS16 1EJ) and work on real engineering tasks including CAD/3D modelling, mechanical calculations and producing engineering documentation to national and international standards.
The programme combines on-the-job learning with formal training. In year 1 you'll attend Weston College two to two and a half days per week; from year 2 you’ll study one day per week at the University of the West of England (UWE) Frenchay Campus.
The apprenticeship is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and includes training in manufacturing processes, quality assurance, project management, FEA tools, and professional skills development.
Essential requirements include five GCSEs (including English and Maths) at grade 4 (C) or above and A-levels as specified (any STEM subject pass; Mathematics and Physics grade C or above). Applicants must be able to achieve BPSS and Security Check clearance.
The role is full-time (Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00, 35 hours/week) and starts on 1 September 2026.

Year 1: £22,800; Year 2: £25,993; Year 3: £29,186; Year 4: £32,380. Post-apprenticeship salary: £43,343. Includes standard company benefits such as pension, employee share scheme, minimum 28 days holiday and flexible benefits.
